Musicians Say: “Act Now” on overseas aid
Monday, 09 Aug 2010
At the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire, two bands called on the Government to "Act Now on 2015".
Dublin-based Afrobeat band Oleku (pictured) and Hungary’s Kerekes Band both lined up in t-shirts marked “Act Now on 2015”, in support of Ireland’s overseas aid commitment.
Ireland has ‘solemnly’ promised to achieve the UN’s 0.7% ODA/GNI target, but to date, the Government has not published plans on how it will achieve that target by 2015.
With just over one month to go until the UN Summit in New York, it is imperative that Ireland acts now, to ensure we keep our promise to the world.
Keep our aid promise. We cannot afford not to.
